Master's Program
This provides information about the Master of Arts program in Educational Psychology with a concentration in Measurement, Statistics and Methodological Studies (MSMS) at Arizona State University. It is intended for use by potential applicants to make informed decisions about whether to seek admission to the MSMS program and by current students as a guide to their academic decision making. As a general rule, graduates of the M.A. program continue on for study toward the Ph.D. degree.
Program Requirements
The M.A. program in Measurement, Statistics, and Methodological Studies requires completion of a minimum of 30 semester hours of graduate work. Students develop a program of study in consultation with the chair of their committee.

A maximum of six hours of credit from other institution is allowed. The transferred courses must be approved by the student's supervisory committee, and they must also be directly relevant to the student's needs and goals.

Program of Study
Each student must form a three-person supervisory committee and complete a written program of study for the degree prior to completing the thesis. The program of study must be approved by the supervisory committee, the Division Director, and the Dean of the Graduate College. Program of study forms are available from the Graduate College and via the Internet. The address is www.asu.edu/registrar/ forms/pos.html. Once the program of study is filed, the student may petition for changes.
Advisement
Upon admission to the program, students are assigned a temporary advisor with whom they consult regarding their initial course work. During the first year, students should consult with MSMS faculty members to find a permanent advisor. The permanent advisor, in conjunction with the supervisory committee, advises students on the plan of study as well as directs their research, including the thesis.
Continuous Enrollment
Students must complete all requirements listed on the Program of Study within six consecutive years. The six-year period begins with the earliest taken course listed the Program of Study.

Students are expected to make sustained progress toward the completion of the degree. If during any twelve consecutive months, students do not complete at least one course in the Program of Study, they may be dismissed from the program. In that case students must be readmitted to the Graduate College before completing any further requirements.
