The MSMS program offers two degrees: Master of Arts (M.A.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.). The Master of Arts is for students who wish to obtain a master's degree, but do not wish to pursue a doctorate. The Doctor of Philosophy is for students who want to obtain a doctoral degree. Students who enter the Ph.D. program with a bachelor's degree may obtain a M. A. prior to their doctoral degree.
